Parvez, Shujaat part ways in politics

PM Shehbaz meets Shujaat Hussain, inquires after his health

Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) leaders Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Chaudhry Parvez Elahi have parted ways over political differences, media reports said on Wednesday.

According to sources, the cracks within PML-Q ranks surfaced on Friday when two of its key leaders were found divided into political lines.

They added that Punjab Assembly Speaker Parvez Elahi is a supporter of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan while Chaudhry Shujaat wants to support Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif visited the house of Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain in Lahore.

The prime minister inquired after the health of the PML-Q chief and prayed for his quick recovery.

Shujaat forwarded some recommendations for the upcoming fiscal year of 2022-23. “Chaudhry Shujaat’s recommendations are people-friendly, and we will definitely make them part of the budget,” PM Shehbaz was quoted as saying.

During the meeting, federal minister Khawaja Saad Rafique, Malik Ahmed Khan, PML-Q leaders, Chaudhry Shafay Hussain and others were also present.
