PCB hopeful of Shaheen Afridi’s return before T20 world cup in October

Pakistan’s ace fast bowler Shaheen Afridi has moved to London to complete his knee injury treatment, and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is confident that he will play in the Twenty20 World Cup in Australia later this year.

On Monday, PCB issued a statement regarding Afridi’s possible comeback before the Twenty20 World Cup.

PCB Chief Medical Officer Najeebullah Soomro said in a statement, “Shaheen Afridi requires uninterrupted, dedicated knee specialist care and London offers some of the best sports medical and rehabilitation facilities in the world.”

“In the best interest of the player, we have decided to send him there. The medical department will receive daily feedback on his progress … and we are confident Afridi will return to full fitness before the T20 World Cup.”

PCB said that our medical panel would decide when Shaheen Afridi would return to international cricket.

Afridi sustained the injury in Sri Lanka last month and was unable to compete in the present Asia Cup in the United Arab Emirates.
