PDM leaders praise ECP’s decision against PTI in prohibited funding case

The ruling coalition launched an attack on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan following the Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) decision that the PTI received ‘prohibited funding’.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader and former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi remarked that PTI attempted to obstruct the Election Commission of Pakistan procedures on the prohibited funding case and that there was more to come as the verdict only looked into the brief time period of the PTI finances.

He said that the PTI stole money from Israeli and Indian citizens, saying those who used to slander others should answer to the public.

PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz criticized Khan for being a “liar and money launderer” in a tweet that was sent out after the ECP order.

She claimed, “Khan is the only politician of Pakistan who has been proven, in a single judgment with irrefutable evidence, to be a liar, corrupt, a money launderer, and acting on the influence of external forces.”

After the verdict, PPP’s Farhatullah Babar praised the CEC, ECP members, and Akbar S. Babar, who had originally submitted the petition in 2014.

He said, “It’s most instructive that those painted as heroes through relentless propaganda for years turn out to be villains.”

Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Memon praised the ECP for delivering the judgment fearlessly and in accordance with the constitution despite pressure from the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and other PTI party officials.

He said, “Imran Khan played with the emotions of the public and Pakistanis living abroad in order to line his own pockets.”

He added that the former premier should be disqualified from standing for office in the upcoming general election.
