Peoples party leads in AJK local polls

Pakistan People’s Party is leading with 79 seats in the first phase of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Local government polls.

According to unofficial results, PPP is leading with 79 seats out of 307 total seats.

However, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf took the second lead with 73 seats.

Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz took 66 seats whereas, the Muslim conference, Tehreek-e-Tabaik, and independent candidates won 22, 1, and 66 seats respectively.

As voting for the first phase of local government (LG) elections in Muzaffarabad division was held on Sunday in a largely peaceful environment, the ruling PTI in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) appeared to have lost to its arch-rivals PML-N and PPP in Muzaffarabad district but was ahead of them in Neelum and Jhelum valley districts.
