Petroleum prices unchanged, announces Finance Minister

Government has announced to maintain the petroleum prices in the country.

Federal Minister for Revenue and Finance senator Ishaq Dar, while announcing the decision in a video, said that the government had decided to not change the prices of petrol and diesel. He said that the prices will remain unchanged for next fortnight.

Ishaq Dar said that the prices will remain effective till April 15 and then the decision will be made for next fortnight.

He also announced to reduce the prices of the kerosene oil and light diesel have been decreased by Rs10 per liter.

The Finance Minister said that there will be no change in the prices of diesel and petrol.

There was expectation of reduction in petroleum prices. According to a media report the oil companies were of the view that the government will not fully compensate them for the exchange losses they have accumulated over the months as a result of the drop in international prices, which has placed them in a tight financial situation.

According to its ex-refinery price in the upcoming workweek, petroleum product’s prices were expected to decrease by Rs13–14 per gallon.
