The Head of the Pakistan Institute of Legislative Development (PILDAT), Ahmed Bilal Mehboob, has emphasized the need for President Arif Alvi to provide clarity regarding whether his presidential staff has engaged in forging his signatures.
In a conversation with Geo News, Ahmed Bilal Mehboob stressed that President Alvi should explicitly address whether the staff signed fabricated documents or failed to return the bills within the specified timeframe.
Furthermore, Mehboob urged President Arif Alvi to specify the date on which he instructed the Presidency staff to return the bills.
Ahmed Bilal Mehboob also emphasized the importance of clarifying whether the instructions were conveyed verbally or if they were documented in written remarks on the respective file.
Earlier, President Alvi tweeted: “As God is my witness, I did not sign the Official Secrets Amendment Bill 2023 & Pakistan Army Amendment Bill 2023 as I disagreed with these laws. I asked my staff to return the bills unsigned within the stipulated time to render them ineffective. I confirmed from them many times whether they had been returned & was assured that they were. However, I have discovered today that my staff undermined my will and command. As Allah knows all, He will forgive IA. But I ask forgiveness from those who will be affected.”
