Plan ‘B’ finalised, ‘C’ will be dangerous: Vawda

Shujaat says no one is above the constitution, be it parliament or any personality

Terming the dissolution of the National Assembly ‘Plan A’, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Faisal Vawda on Monday said that the first plan had been implemented, while ‘B’ was ready and ‘C’ would be ‘dangerous’.

Talking to a private news channel, Vawda alleged that the Pakistan Democratic Movement was part of a ‘foreign conspiracy’ to thwart the PTI government. He said the PTI would accept the decision of the Supreme Court on the ruling of the National Assembly deputy speaker and added that his party leaders were not like those of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) who attacked the Supreme Court in the past.

Commenting on the ‘foreign conspiracy’, the PTI leader said the tweet of Ahsan Iqbal regarding the removal of Imran Khan was retweeted by the US Embassy. He also shared a screenshot of the tweet. Vawda claimed the ‘threatening letter’ was shown to the National Security Committee (NSC) and the committee recommended a strong response.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) President and former prime minister Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain said the constitution was the most supreme, and nobody was above it, be it the parliament or any officeholder or personality. “In a personal capacity, nobody can issue any order over and above the constitution,” he said in a statement. Shujaat said the parliament could not make any law free of the constitution. On the other hand, former national security adviser (NSA) Dr. Moeed Yusuf thanked Prime Minister Imran Khan for entrusting him with the responsibility of the NSA.

In a series of his tweets, Dr. Moeed expressed thanks to the entire team of the National Security Division and Strategic Policy Planning Cell for supporting him and contributing to the national cause. This comes a day after President Arif Alvi endorsed the dissolution of the assembly under Articles 48(1) and 58(1) of the Constitution and subsequently PM Imran dissolved the federal cabinet as well.

“Today, I leave extremely satisfied and content, most of all because I know that the NSA’s office and the NSD are vibrant institutions with an exceptional team that will continue to make Pakistan proud,” Moeed wrote. He further said, “I want to thank PM Imran for trusting me with this immense responsibility and allowing me to do justice to my role as the NSA.”

He also thanked all others who allowed the office of the National Security Adviser and the National Security Division/Strategic Policy Planning Cell to contribute to the national cause. The NSA thanked the entire nation for supporting and criticising him to perform well in his position.

Dr. Moeed Yusuf was appointed as Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on National Security Division and Strategic Policy Planning, with the status of Minister of State, on December 24, 2019.
