PM for luring investors into attractive projects

Economic experts from UAE to arrive in Pakistan to implement decisions made earlier by leadership of both countries

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday stressed the need for putting forward feasible and attractive projects before investors to fetch maximum foreign investment.

Chairing a preparatory meeting prior to his meeting with a United Arab Emirates (UAE) delegation in Lahore on Tuesday, the prime minister directed the authorities concerned to make government-to-government agreements transparent.

The meeting decided that agreements related to energy, infrastructure development, petroleum products on deferred payments and provision of long-term loans on easy conditions should be signed with the delegation.

Shehbaz directed the participants of the meeting to make all-out efforts for the success of dialogue with the UAE delegation.

The meeting was attended by Federal Minister for Power Khurram Dastgir, State Minister Musadiq Malik, Board of Investment Secretary Imdad Bosal and other senior officers.

It may be mentioned here that a team of economic experts from the UAE is scheduled to visit Pakistan on Tuesday to discuss the implementation of decisions made by the leadership of Pakistan and the Emirates.
The delegation would also interact with the government’s economic team and deliberate on the ways to accelerate economic activities between the two countries.

The prime minister would also host a dinner reception for the delegation, which would also discuss the promotion of economic and trade relations.

The members of the delegation would be apprised of the atmosphere conducive for investment in Pakistan. Discussion on cooperation in the fields of energy, economy, and petroleum industry is also on the agenda.

Meanwhile, Shehbaz Sharif called Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and extended greetings on the occasion of Eidul Fitr. He also conveyed his best wishes to the brotherly people of Qatar.

The Qatari emir warmly reciprocated the greetings and extended best wishes to the people of Pakistan.

Both the leaders expressed satisfaction over the excellent state of bilateral relations and resolved to carry forward the robust political and economic cooperation that exists between them. They agreed to maintain close contact and work together on all issues of common interest. The prime minister invited the Qatari emir to visit Pakistan at an early date.

Shehbaz Sharif also held a telephone conversation with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and conveyed warm felicitations to the government, leadership and people of Turkey on Eid-ul-Fitr.

President Erdogan warmly reciprocated the prime minister’s Eid greetings and conveyed his special fraternal feelings and affection for the people of Pakistan. The Turkish president once again felicitated the prime minister on his election and assumption of office.

The two leaders expressed satisfaction over the excellent bilateral relations between the two countries and reiterated their commitment to further advance these relations in all areas of mutual interest, particularly trade and investment.

Highlighting his government’s business-friendly policies, PM Shehbaz invited Turkish businessmen and investors to visit Pakistan, and to benefit from business-friendly policies.

Both the leaders noted with pleasure that Pakistan and Turkey would be commemorating the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations this year in a befitting manner.

Shehbaz also held a telephone call with King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of the Kingdom of Bahrain to convey Eid-ul-Fitr greetings.

The premier reiterated that Pakistan valued its fraternal ties with Bahrain and expressed his resolve to further strengthen bilateral cooperation in diverse fields.
