PM Khan announces Rs500bn package for south Punjab

Premier says bill to be tabled in National Assembly for separate province of South Punjab

Prime Minister Imran Khan on Sunday announced that an additional Rs500 billion would be spent on the development of the southern Punjab region.

According to media reports, while addressing a rally in Mailsi, Vehari District, the prime minister said that a bill would be tabled in the National Assembly for a separate province of South Punjab.

The premier spoke about the current economic conditions of the country and said that the government was striving to reduce unemployment and inflation and make the national economy strong.

PM Khan said that in spite of the high rate of inflation globally, he had reduced the rates of power and fuel.

The prime minister said that if the government managed to bring back the looted wealth possessed by Nawaz Sharif, the prices of fuel could be halved.

Moreover, while speaking about the recent bombing in Peshawar, the premier stated that the government was committed to tackling terrorism and promoting peace in the country.

Speaking about the Russia-Ukraine crisis, the prime minister reiterated that Pakistan was not in any bloc and was for ending the war in Ukraine.

Referring to the no-confidence motion, the prime minister said that it was to bring ‘absconder Nawaz Sharif’, who lied to the Supreme Court, back.

PM Khan also spoke about the ‘trickery of Sharifs’, saying that Nawaz and Maryam spoke against the army, but Shehbaz did not.

He added that he would never call Fazlur Rehman [the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl chief] a ‘Maulana’ because he was a ‘blackmailer’.
