PM Khan announces ‘surprise’ for opposition ahead of no-trust motion

Premier says will not resign under any circumstances

Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday said that he would “surprise” the opposition a day ahead of the National Assembly’s vote on the no-confidence motion against him.

While speaking with journalists in Islamabad, the prime minister said that the opposition had shown their hand, but the no-confidence motion against him would fail.

“I will not resign under any circumstance. I will play till the last ball […] and I will surprise them a day before as they are still under pressure,” the prime minister said, without divulging further details.

NA Speaker Asad Qaiser has called the session of the assembly for the no-confidence motion on March 25. According to the NA rules, the voting must be held between three to seven days.

The prime minister confidently claimed that he still had a few tricks up his sleeve, as he vowed to foil the no-trust motion. The premier assailed the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and Pakistan People’s Party for their “politics of corruption”, claiming that he would not compromise on corruption under any circumstances.

“No one should be under the false impression that I will sit at home. I will not resign, and why should I? Should I resign due to the pressure from thieves?” he stressed.
