PM seeks UAE assistance to facilitate dialogue with India

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif during his recent UAE trip has asked for the assistance of the UAE to facilitate dialogue with India.

He also promised to hold sincere talks with the two countries’ bitter rivals if such a channel were to open.

In an interview with the Al-Arabiya television network, Sharif revealed that he had asked Al-Nahyan for assistance with the talks while also remarking that Pakistan had learned its lesson and was prepared for peace.

PM added, “I have requested Mohammed bin Zayed — that he’s a brother of Pakistan and the UAE is a brotherly country. He also has good relations with India, he can play a very important role to bring the two countries to the talking table and I give my word of honor that we will be talking to Indians with sincerity of purpose.”

While specifically noting the Kashmir dispute, the PM offered a resolution of serious problems.

He reminded of the ongoing flagrant human rights violations in the colonized region and the 2019 revocation of Kashmir’s independence and said, “My message to the Indian leadership and Prime Minister Narendra Modi is that let us sit down on the table and have serious and sincere talks to resolve our burning issues like Kashmir.”

Regarding the rights of minorities, PM said that India must stop this.

PM visited UAE on January 12th to meet President Al-Nahyan to strengthen cross-border relations in the fields of business, trade, and investment.
