PM Shehbaz appoints Ayaz Sadiq Minister of Law and Justice

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has appointed Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz’s (PML-N) leader Ayaz Sadiq as the minister of law and justice.

After the approval of the Prime Minister, a notification was issued to allot Ayaz Sadiq the portfolio of the Ministry of Law and Justice.

PML-N leader Ayaz Sadiq is already holding the portfolio Ministry of Economic Affairs.

Earlier, the previous Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar had resigned on Monday night. In his resignation letter, Tarar stated that he could not work as a federal minister due to personal reasons.

The development of Tarar’s resignation had come a few hours after a meeting of the Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP), in which the government’s representatives Law Minister Azam Tarar and Attorney-General Ashtar Ausaf Ali voted for the two junior judges nominated by Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial, despite having opposed earlier.

There were also connections being made to Tarar’s presence at the Asma Jahangir Conference over the weekend, where anti-army slogans were raised in his presence. Late at night on Sunday, he had also tweeted that he was disappointed by the group raising the slogans.
