PM Shehbaz asks provinces for help in fighting terrorism

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif On Friday called on the support of the provinces to eradicate terrorism that has returned to the country and pleaded for business assistance to ensure the National Energy Conservation Plan (NECP) success.

The prime minister, who was in charge of a security meeting, emphasized the importance of improving collaboration between federal and provincial agencies to eradicate terrorism from the nation.

“Militants and terrorists will never be able to weaken the resolve of the country.” No cost will be spared for the sake of national security, he insisted and gave the National Counter Terrorism Authority (Nacta) national coordinator, interior secretary, and interior minister orders to meet with the provinces and produce a report.

Additionally, PM Shehbaz gave the provincial apex committees instructions to have frequent meetings and improve communication with other provinces.

The interior minister and secretary reported on the security situation, and the four chief secretaries and inspectors general of police discussed the situation in their various regions and the steps being taken to stop the threat.

The national coordinator of NACTA was given instructions by the prime minister to improve communication between federal and provincial law enforcement, counterterrorism departments, and other relevant organizations.

The meeting was attended by the province chief secretaries, police chiefs, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah, adviser Ahad Cheema, and leaders of the law enforcement agencies.
