PM Shehbaz assures Chinese premier of enhanced security for China’s citizens in country

Premier says Pakistan considers safety of Chinese working in Pakistan very important

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday offered assurance to Chinese Premier Li Keqiang that Pakistan was resolute in taking all essential actions to provide enhanced security to the Chinese people in Pakistan.

He said this as the two leaders held a detailed telephonic conversation today. During the talks, the Karachi suicide attack in which three Chinese citizens lost their lives came under discussion. The premier offered his condolences to the Chinese government and its people expressing his heartfelt sympathies with the victims’ families.

PM Shehbaz reaffirmed Pakistan’s firm resolution to conduct a comprehensive probe and arrest those responsible for the attack.

He also recapped that Pakistan devoted the highest standard to the safety, security and protection of all Chinese nationals working in Pakistan.

The two leaders also talked about bilateral matters, while agreeing that Pakistan and China would not let anyone harm the iron-clad “All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership” between the two countries.

PM Shehbaz acknowledged his government’s firm resolve to accelerate both the various projects under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, which had immeasurably aided in the socio-economic development of Pakistan.

The prime minister thanked China for its firm support of Pakistan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and national development. He reiterated his government’s unflinching support to China on all issues of its core interests.
