PM Shehbaz decides to form judicial commission to investigate Arshad Sharif’s death

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday decided to form a judicial commission to investigate the death of Journalist Arshad Sharif in Kenya.

PM Shehbaz through his Twitter said, “I have decided to form a Judicial Commission to hold an inquiry into the killing of journalist Arshad Sharif to determine the facts of the tragic incident in a transparent & conclusive manner.”

Earlier, Information minister Maryam Aurangzaib stated that the judicial inquiry will be led by a high court judge who will select media persons as well as members of civil society to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of the assassinated journalist.

Later, PM confirmed the news on his Twitter as well.

In a video message, the prime minister condemned the death of a journalist and stated that he talked with Kenya’s President and asked him to deliver the investigation report immediately and to play his role in returning the body to Pakistan.

He claimed that Kenya’s President guaranteed him that he would leave no question unanswered in this matter and that the president expressed sympathy for the journalist’s death.

Meanwhile, Pakistan President Dr. Arif Alvi also met Arshad Sharif’s family to express his condolences.

Arshad Sharif a well-known Pakistani Journalist got killed in Nairobi, Kenya on Sunday with Kenyan police claiming it to be “a mistaken identity case”.
