PM Shehbaz emphasises combatting climate change and increasing trade ties in UN

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held significant meetings with international leaders where they discussed ways to combat climate change and strengthening trade ties with Pakistan.

PM Shehbaz’s meetings with world leaders were held on the sidelines of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

On Tuesday, PM Shehbaz met with the presidents of France and Iran, the prime minister of Spain, and the chancellor of Austria.

The PM is now scheduled to meet International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director Karistalina Georgieva and World Bank (WB) President David Malpass along with other key leaders.

During the meeting with world leaders, PM Shehbaz briefed them on the terrible floods in the country and emphasized the importance of coordinated international action to combat climate change.

Prime Minister Sharif also emphasized Pakistan’s desire to improve economic and trade ties with other nations.

The 77th General Assembly session started on Tuesday with a plea from UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres for affluent nations to aid developing countries in coping with climate change challenges.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is scheduled to address the United Nations General Assembly session on Friday.
