ISTANBUL: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a series of high-level meetings with leading Turkish business executives and industry representatives in Istanbul, inviting them to increase investment in Pakistan’s key economic sectors and strengthen bilateral commercial ties.
During separate meetings with Ahmet Çalık, Chairman of Çalık Holding, Ahmet Albayrak, Chairman of the Board of Albayrak Group, and Rifat HisarcıklıoÄŸlu, President of Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB), the prime minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to deepening economic cooperation with Türkiye.
Shehbaz Sharif highlighted the longstanding brotherly relations between the two countries and stressed the need to transform those ties into a stronger economic and investment partnership. He pointed to Pakistan’s improving macroeconomic indicators, investor-friendly policies, and the government’s commitment to providing a transparent, predictable, and business-friendly investment environment.
The prime minister invited Turkish companies to expand their investments in priority sectors, including energy, mining and minerals, infrastructure, maritime services, logistics, information technology, telecommunications, manufacturing, agriculture, and privatization. He noted that the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) is providing one-window facilitation and institutional support to strategic investors in coordination with federal and provincial authorities.
In his meeting with Çalık Holding, the prime minister emphasized investment opportunities in energy, infrastructure, information technology, and privatization. He welcomed the company’s interest in expanding its operations in Pakistan, noting that its existing presence through Çalık Enerji and GAP İnÅŸaat provides a strong foundation for broader cooperation.
During discussions with Albayrak Group, Shehbaz Sharif appreciated the company’s longstanding contribution to Pakistan’s infrastructure and connectivity projects and encouraged it to further expand investment in maritime infrastructure, port modernization, and logistics.
Meeting TOBB President Rifat HisarcıklıoÄŸlu, the prime minister praised the organization’s role in strengthening business-to-business relations between Pakistan and Türkiye. He proposed establishing a structured institutional mechanism for regular engagement between the private sectors of both countries and invited TOBB to lead a high-level business delegation to Pakistan to explore emerging investment opportunities firsthand.
The Turkish business leaders welcomed Pakistan’s economic reforms and improvements in the investment climate, expressing confidence in the country’s economic outlook. They reaffirmed their interest in expanding investments across multiple strategic sectors and strengthening long-term economic partnerships between Pakistan and Türkiye.
