PM Shehbaz meets Fazlur Rehman in effort to persuade PDM chief

Zardari doesn’t want to extend assemblies’ term, Nawaz accepted his suggestion but Fazlur Rehman is angry over it, sources

A meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Maulana Fazlur Rehman was held, in which Federal Minister for Communications Maulana Asad Mahmood was also present.

According to sources, political and current situation were being discussed in the meeting, and the Prime Minister took Maulana Fazlur Rehman into confidence.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman had on Sunday expressed his displeasure over the decisions taken between the PML-N and the PPP in Dubai. These meetings were being held in connection with the elections.

Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb on Monday confirmed that Nawaz Sharif will meet Maulana Fazlur Rehman.

Meanwhile, news circulated in Islamabad on Monday that Nawaz Sharif has decided to meet Maulana Fazlur Rehman to address his concerns. However, it is not yet clear whether the meeting will take place in London or Dubai.

According to some reports, Nawaz Sharif will return to Dubai from Saudi Arabia and this meeting will be held there, while some other reports said that Nawaz Sharif has called Maulana Fazlur Rehman to London. However, Marriyum Aurangzeb has confirmed that the meeting will take place.

According to sources, former president Asif Ali Zardari does not want to extend the term of the assemblies and Nawaz Sharif has accepted his suggestion, but Maulana Fazlur Rehman is angry over it.

Yesterday, PDM chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman had expressed serious reservations over Nawaz Sharif’s meetings in Dubai.
