PM Shehbaz orders to withdraw curative review against Justice Qazi Faez

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday issued an order to dismiss the curative review reference brought against Judge Qazi Faez Isa, one of the senior judges on the Supreme Court.

The curative review reference filed against Justice Isa was ordered to be withdrawn by the premier, who claimed it was “filed on flimsy and political grounds” and was therefore unfounded.

The decision was agreed upon during a cabinet meeting presided over by PM Shehbaz.

Shehbaz stated that “Judge Qazi Faiz Isa and his family were hounded and slandered in the name of the reference.”

He continued that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, was “a vindictive person,” and said that this was not a reference.

Judge Isa, according to PM Shehbaz, is “a fair-minded judge who followed the path of the Constitution and the law,” and Imran was accused of trying to splinter the judiciary.

Despite being in power, he claimed, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and its allies had denounced this “false reference.”

The prime minister claimed that Imran “misused the constitutional position of the president for this criminal crime,” adding that President Arif Alvi had turned into a tool in the attack on the judiciary and an accomplice to a falsehood.

The premier stated that “their perspective is important” and that legal organizations, such as the Pakistan Bar Council (PBC), have also rejected the curative review petition.
