Pakistan’s leadership has expressed solidarity with Bangladesh after devastating floods and landslides caused widespread destruction and loss of lives.

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif offered condolences to the victims’ families and assured support for the people and government of Bangladesh during the crisis.

Heavy monsoon rains triggered severe flooding and landslides in several parts of southeastern Bangladesh. The disaster has killed dozens of people and left more than a million residents affected.

The flooding also caused deadly landslides in Rohingya refugee camps in Cox’s Bazar, where several refugees, including women and children, lost their lives.

President Zardari expressed grief over the destruction and prayed for the recovery of those injured and the safety of affected communities.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan shares the pain of the Bangladeshi people and extended condolences to families who lost loved ones. He also prayed for the quick recovery of those impacted by the disaster.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar also expressed sorrow over the floods and landslides.

Dar praised the efforts of rescue workers, armed forces, medical teams and relief organisations involved in emergency operations. He said Pakistan remains committed to standing with Bangladesh during the difficult period.

The disaster has severely disrupted daily life across several districts, including Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Bandarban, Rangamati, Khagrachhari, Moulvibazar and Habiganj.

Thousands of families have been stranded as floodwaters entered homes, damaged infrastructure and cut off communities from essential supplies.

Many residents are facing shortages of food, clean water and electricity, while relief operations have been slowed by damaged roads and bridges.

Bangladesh’s army and navy personnel are using boats to deliver food, medicines and other emergency supplies to isolated areas.
