PM Shehbaz reaches Balochistan to visit floods hit areas

Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif has reached Balochistan to visit floods and rain-hit areas and monitor rescue and rehabilitation work.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reached Jackobabad during his visit to Balochistan hit by a heavy continuous spell of monsoon rains.

Federal Information Minister Maryam Aurangzeb has stated that upon reaching Jackobabad, the premier was briefed by officials of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Chief Secretary Balochistan and Lt General Akhtar Nawaz.

According to the information minister, the PM left for Jhal Magsi after the briefing. He would visit the areas affected due to floods.

During the visit, the PM will review the damage caused by floods and rescue, relief and rehabilitation measures for the flood victims.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was also accompanied by federal ministers and senior officials.

Earlier, the inclement weather delayed the visit of the Prime Minister to the flood-affected areas of Balochistan.

A few days ago, the PM also chaired a detailed meeting on the rescue, relief and rehabilitation measures in the flood-affected areas of the country. He directed the authorities to provide the natural calamity-hit families with Rs1 million each monetary support. Financial aid to the injured and compensation support to damaged houses was also directed by him.

He had also directed to increase the amount for the injured and affected from Rs50,000 to Rs200,000. Besides, support for the partially damaged homes had been increased from Rs25,000 to Rs250,000 each and for those completely damaged houses, the amount was amplified from Rs50,000 to Rs500,000 each.

The prime minister also constituted a special committee comprising the federal ministers to effectively supervise the rescue and relief activities.
