Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday instructed the relevant departments for the timely completion of development projects in Lahore city.
The prime minister made the comments while inspecting the progress being made on the Lahore Bridge and CBD Underpass. PM Shehbaz was accompanied by the chief minister of Punjab Mohsin Naqvi.
The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) project, costing Rs. 1,712 million, began in 2021 but was delayed for two years owing to the issue of a no objection certificate (NOC), according to information provided to PM Shehbaz during his visit to the Lahore bridge building site.
The prime minister ordered that legal action be taken against the relevant officer after expressing his discontent with the LESCO’s shutdown plan and work pace.
Instead of two months, the officials were allocated one month to finish the construction.
In his visit to the CBD underpass, the prime minister criticized the delay as being unfair. He questioned using a third party for verification and ordered a building company to pay for the appointment of a reputable third party.
The prime minister later presided over a meeting on the Lahore development projects.
Speaking at the time, the prime minister said that the previous administration purposefully halted development projects in Punjab as “revenge” against the people of Punjab for their support of the PML-N.
The PTI-led administration has not only postponed the projects it had started during the previous four years but also failed to start any new ones.
The chief minister of Punjab Usman Buzdar was harshly criticized by PM Shehbaz, who stated, “The province was handed over to an incompetent and puppet chief minister.”
The prime minister was updated on several development initiatives in the province during the meeting.
