Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif will go to New York on September 19 to attend the 77th session of the UN General Assembly.
According to local media reports, the Prime Minister will arrive in New York along with four other members of his cabinet and some senior officials.
The Prime Minister is set to address the General Assembly on September 23.
PM Shehbaz’s bilateral meeting with US President Joe Biden is still yet to be decided.
This year’s General Assembly will be the first time since 2019 that world leaders will meet in person at the UN makes it particularly noteworthy.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the 2020 and 2021 sessions were switched to virtual meetings.
The day after arriving in New York on September 19, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif is scheduled to attend the UN General Assembly’s opening session on September 20.
The prime minister will be accompanied by the Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar, the Minister of Defence Khawaja Muhammad Asif, and the Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Maryam Aurangzeb.
