PM Shehbaz to attend fifth UN conference on LDCs

The Prime Minister’s Office has released a statement confirming that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will attend the upcoming United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries (LDCs) in Doha, Qatar.

In order to attend the United Nations session, which takes place in Doha from March 5 to 9, Prime Minister Shehbaz will travel there on March 5 and 6.

The conference will discuss how to hasten sustainable development in the world’s least developed nations and aid their ascent to wealth.

During the meeting, leaders will push for increased international aid for LDCs. In doing so, they will decide to restore ties between LDCs and their development partners.

According to a statement from the PMO, the prime minister will meet with participating heads of state and government in Doha on the sidelines of the UN conference.

Pakistan has been taking the lead on UN platforms to elevate the voices of the global south as a whole and advance sustainable development all over the world.

The Doha Plan of Action for the Least Developed Countries was adopted by agreement and endorsed by the UN General Assembly thanks to the active assistance of Pakistan, which will serve as Chair of the Group of 77 (G77) and China in 2022.
