PM Shehbaz to discuss crucial financial, political matters with allies today

Premier will take coalition partners in confidence regarding recent meeting with PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif in London

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is set to hold consultation with the heads of allied parties today to discuss key matters as the country’s economic situation worsens and pressure from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf for early polls increases.

Local media reported that the premier will apprise allies regarding his recent meeting with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz supremo Nawaz Sharif in London. They will also discuss the prices of petroleum products and the political scenario of the country.

The PML-N leaders who were part of the meetings in London are reserved and have not disclosed anything regarding the party’s approach to tackle with the economic crisis and ending the subsidies on petroleum products. The International Monetary Fund has connected the revival of the loan program with the suspension of subsidies announced by the PTI government.

Local media reported that PM Shehbaz Sharif would also address the nation within a few days to apprise them regarding the predominant financial and political condition of the country.

A meeting of the National Security Committee could also be called to take all stakeholders in confidence on the current situation. The premier will pitch options for tackling the crises to the leaders of the allied parties after which the government will make the final decision.
