PM Shehbaz to participate in SCO summit virtually

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will participate electronically in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit, the Foreign Office has informed after India abruptly altered the format of the summit to a virtual gathering without giving any explanation.

On July 4, the regional summit will take place in New Delhi, the capital of India, with participation from member nations such as Pakistan, Russia, and China taking place digitally.

The Indian prime minister has officially invited our prime minister to attend the virtual conference of the heads of state of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization scheduled for July 4. In the weekly briefing, FO spokesman Mumtaz Zahra Baloch stated that Pakistan will be represented at the summit.

The FO spokesman also discussed the potential for discussions with the Afghan Taliban, who have once more suggested that Pakistan undertake negotiations with the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) to discuss the latter’s terrorist actions in the nation.

“We have previously replied to similar inquiries. The foreign office spokeswoman said, “I would like to invite you to a statement made by our foreign minister in which he emphasized Pakistan will not talk with people who are accountable for the murder of Pakistani civilians and law enforcement agents.

However, she said that she would not get into the specifics of these discussions, Pakistan still communicates with the Afghan interim government in Kabul.
