The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leadership discussed the possibility of filing a bail application for party chief Nawaz Sharif in the Islamabad High Court (IHC).

Sources said that senior leaders of the party and legal experts have been considering the right time for Nawaz Sharif’s return for the last few days and the cases he is facing in Pakistan.

Sources said that if “some issues” related to Nawaz Sharif’s return to the country are settled, then PML-N President and former Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif will leave for London to meet his elder brother.

Sources said that if everything goes according to the party’s plan, that is, if Nawaz Sharif gets bail from the Islamabad High Court, then he will reach Islamabad where he will address a public meeting at the Parade Ground.

According to the plan, he will go to Lahore from GT Road after the rally, where Maryam Nawaz and Hamza Shahbaz will jointly organize a historic rally to mobilize party workers across Punjab, which Nawaz Sharif will address.

However, this plan is likely to change at the last moment, it is also possible that Nawaz Sharif will reach Lahore instead of Islamabad on returning home and address the rally.

Talking to reporters in London yesterday, Nawaz Sharif said that I want to return to Pakistan soon.

Recently outgoing Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and former Defence Minister Khawaja Asif have claimed that Nawaz Sharif will return home in September, but some senior party leaders believe that Nawaz Sharif should return a month or two before the general elections.

PML-N circles believe that Nawaz Sharif will return home only when he gets relief in the cases faced in Pakistan.

Sources say that the delay in Nawaz Sharif’s return shows that he still needs some assurances before booking the return ticket, the possible delay in the elections till February or March will give Nawaz Sharif more time to settle his cases.

It may be recalled that Nawaz Sharif was convicted in the Al-Azizia Mills and Avenfield corruption cases in 2018, he was imprisoned in Lahore’s Kot Lakhpat Jail for seven years in the Al-Azizia Mills reference, but shortly after he was allowed to go to London on medical grounds.

Meanwhile, Shahbaz Sharif said that his 16-month tenure as prime minister was the most difficult period of his life.

He met Malik Ahmed Khan and Saad Rafique in Model Town yesterday regarding the upcoming elections and the party’s organizational affairs.

During the meeting, Shahbaz Sharif while talking to the two party leaders said that I did not think about politics during my tenure but only about the welfare of the people.
