PML-N’s Zubair Umar says PM Imran taking country towards one-party fascist state

Former Sindh governor says PTI’s clash with media, opposition, ECP and judiciary reflects poor state of democracy

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Muhammad Zubair Umar said on Wednesday that Prime Minister Imran Khan was taking the country towards a one-party fascist state as the government had locked horns with media on the one hand and the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), judiciary and opposition on the other.

Talking to a private news channel on Wednesday, Muhammad Zubair said that the situation of democracy in Pakistan was bad and the country was moving towards a one-party fascist state. The PML-N leader cited the government’s conflict with media, ECP, judiciary and opposition as a reason for this.

Elaborating his point further, the former Sindh governor said that if Imran Khan was claiming to be a democratic ruler, he should not have be giving examples of one-party states and authoritarian regimes like China in his statements.

Speaking amid the backdrop of the International Day of Democracy, Muhammad Zubair questioned, “What will be the state of democracy in a country where government gives statements about putting the election commission on fire.”

Emphasising his point about the deplorable state of democracy in Pakistan, the PML-N leader also mentioned how Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf member and Federal Water Resources Minister Faisal Vawda had talked of hanging 5000 people to death.
