Mirpur Mathelo police in Ghotki district have taken into custody an accused involved in the act of shaving his wife’s head.
Nizamuddin Lashari, driven by anger following a dispute with his wife, forcibly shaved her head after she expressed her desire to visit her parents.
The incident came to light after Lashari shared a video of the ordeal on social media. The arrest of the accused was made by local law enforcement under the directives of SSP Ghotki.
An FIR had been lodged against Lashari on behalf of the state, citing relevant sections of the Pakistan Penal Code. During initial questioning, Lashari admitted to the crime and expressed remorse for his actions. The shocking video, recorded by Nizam Lashari, gained traction on social media and drew widespread condemnation from human rights activists and members of civil society.
Responding to the public outrage and the viral video, SSP Ghotki, Tanwer Tunio, instructed the immediate arrest of the accused and the initiation of a legal case against him. The incident has sparked discussions about gender-based violence and the need for awareness and prevention measures.
