Police identify main suspect and two accomplices in Lahore blast

Special police teams formed to track down and apprehend terrorists.

Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) have identified two alleged facilitators who were present at the scene and arrested them.

According to the photos available with Minute Mirror, one of them can be seen wearing a sweater and the other one wearing a jacket. According to investigation teams, the two alleged facilitators also had a meeting with the terrorist, who brought the bomb, prior to the incident. The main suspect and his two facilitators were wearing shalwar kameez.

Investigation sources have also confirmed the route used by the terrorist and his facilitators after receiving the complete geo-fencing report. The facilitators used the circular road to reach the spot while the terrorist used Pan Gali. After the blast, the terrorist and the facilitators fled towards circular road.

Police sources have also confirmed two suspects were taken into custody last night from Mayo Hospital adding that records of the suspects are being collected. The scope of the investigation has been extended. A first information report (FIR) has been filed on the complaint of inspector Abid Baig, and a special squad has been constituted to search down the perpetrators using CCTV video.

According to the FIR, the suspected terrorist arrived at the scene via a motorcycle. They planted the bomb in front of the bank and then fled the scene.

On Thursday, an improvised explosive device exploded in the Pan Mandi area of Lahore’s New Anarkali bazaar, killing three people and injuring 29 others. Mayo hospital officials confirmed that 13 of the total 25 injured people were being treated and 12 had been discharged after receiving appropriate medical care.
