Unidentified gunmen shot and killed a police officer in Pishin, Balochistan who was escorting a polio vaccination team.

According to Pishin Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Yasir, on Tuesday, the assailants attacked the vaccination team in the Pishin neighborhood of Trat, murdering the police officer who had been assigned to protect the vaccination team.

According to Yasir, the polio team members were unharmed in the incident.

Constable Muhammad Hashim was identified as the dead and his body was taken to Quetta for medical and legal procedures.

According to the DC, the police have begun a search operation in the region to arrest the attackers.

The incident occurs during a five-day anti-polio campaign that is taking place in 426 union councils in 19 Balochistan districts.

Meanwhile, a suicide bomber attacked the peace committee office next to the Sadar police station in Dera Ismail Khan

According to reports, after seeing the suicide attack, the peace committee volunteers started firing. Police and law enforcement forces reached the spot soon after the incident.

The office of peace committee Chief Noor Alam Mehsud near Dera Ismail Khan was bombed by two suicide bombers. At the time of the incident, Noor Alam’s nephew Haji Banut’s son Siraj Mehsud was also present.

According to local media reports, the target of the suicide bombers was Noor Alam Mehsud.
