Lahore Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Operations Ahsan Younis has asked officials to set up a welfare centre for the families of martyrs on Monday.

The DIG operations called up a meeting in which he inquired about the details of the families and children of the police martyrs.

According to police sources, the DIG Operations lamented the fact that the officers did not know the names of the personnel who were martyred in recent incidents in several clashes and encounters.

He stated, “Officers did not even know the names of the martyrs.”

Younis directed all divisional superintendents of Police and sub-divisional police officers to contact the families and children of the martyrs and complete their registration in the next three days.

He directed the officers to set up a Police Welfare Centre at Police Lines Qilla Gujar Singh, to aid the connection between authorities and families of martyrs. He expressed disappointment over the non-timely provision of living allowance to the widows of martyrs.

He directed the officers to use all resources for the welfare of the martyrs and their families and ensure that all injured police officers got the best medical treatment.
