Former president and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari Saturday said that political parties and the establishment were on the same page for a strong and stable Pakistan.
He made these remarks while speaking to Sindh cabinet members at the Bilawal House in Karachi and asked them to work for the betterment of the province.
Zardari said that it was a very good sign that both the establishment and political forces of the country were on the same page and hoped that the working relation would further strengthen in the time to come.
The former president said that the PPP had always given rights to the media and faced massive criticism with an open heart as the party believed in democratic norms. Contrarily, he said the previous PTI government imposed terrible curbs on the media and tried its best to stifle dissident. He added that former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan was bragging about giving freedom to the press. “Imran Khan left everything in a mess and I know it is our duty to correct all these damages” he added. He said that the coalition government was trying its best to provide maximum relief to people, besides putting state institutions on the right track. Later, the ministers briefed Zardari about their performance and the party’s position during the second phase of local bodies elections in Karachi and Hyderabad divisions scheduled for July 24.
