PPP issues show cause notice to MNA upon talks with banned TTP

Sajid Hussain Turi attended talks without party permission, Notice

Pakistan Peoples Party has served a show cause notice to its MNA from FATA after he participated in peace talks with the banned TTP.

The show cause notice has asked Minister for Overseas Pakistanis, Sajid Hussain Turi to reply as why he attended the negotiations with the banned outfit without prior approval from the party.

According to media reports, a special meeting will be held today to discuss the issue chaired by Asif Ali Zardari.

Media reports claim that PPP has made their stance in the show cause notice that TTP is militant organization and doesn’t accept the constitution of Pakistan; they are responsible for mass murder. The notice also said that such negotiations could put grave effects upon the country’s security.

The negotiations between a Pakistani grand jirga and the banned outfit TTP advanced significantly where an indefinite ceasefire was announced.

TTP has been involved in killing of hundreds of Pakistanis. It had also engaged with mainstream political issues to become part of Pakistan’s political system. Under the operations by Pakistan Army, many of TTP followers had fled to Afghanistan where US led NATO forces had arrested many of them. But later after US left the country, majority of TTP leadership was released.
