Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has commenced nationwide protests against catastrophic price hikes of necessities and increasing inflation.

PPP staged protests in various major cities of the country, particularly in different districts of Sindh.

PPP staged a protest rally in Karachi, led by prominent PPP leaders including Senator Sherry Rehman and former Sindh chief minister Qaim Ali Shah.

Its sister organisations of district Thatta staged a protest against back-breaking inflation across the country. Led by former senator Sassui Palijo, Special Assistant to Sindh Chief Minister Sadiq Memon, MNA Ayaz Shah Shirazi, Imtiaz Qureshi, and others, the workers and supporters of PPP took out a rally. They staged a protest demonstration at National Highway, causing suspension of vehicular traffic for around three hours.

Carrying banners and play cards, the protesters chanted slogans at the top of their voices against the incumbent federal government. Speaking on the occasion, they criticised the federal government for a hike in petroleum and essential commodities prices.

They said that people were worried about earning daily bread for their families. The PPP leaders said that increase in power and gas tariff and surge in prices of oil commodities had added to the troubles of the general public. They said that earning the two-time bread for their children had become difficult for people in the tenure of the PTI government.

Senior PPP leader and former senator Sassui Palijo said that their leader Bilawal Bhutto was well aware of poor people’s sufferings who struggled to make ends meet.

She also added that their chairman and Pakistan Peoples Party would stand by the poor people of this country.

Sadiq Memon said that the protests held across the country against the price hike would turn the heat on the federal government, which he said was already on a ventilator. He further said that the PTI government had lost ground, and PPP would inflict a massive defeat in the upcoming elections.

The leaders and workers vowed to continue their movement against the worst ever inflation in the country’s history.
