President Dr. Arif Alvi has declared a 180-day sentence reduction for prisoners on Pakistan’s 76th Independence Day.

This benefit extends to male prisoners aged 65 or above, or those with 15 years served, and female prisoners aged 60 or above, or those with 20 years served.

Young prisoners below 18, having completed a third of their sentence, will also qualify.

Excluded from this remission are serious offenses like murder, terrorism, and financial crimes.

As Independence Day approaches, markets are adorned with national flags, colored clothing, and related items, attracting patriotic buyers. Additionally, Azadi Melas will be organized nationwide in various languages to celebrate the occasion.
