President Arif Alvi takes oath of office from three federal ministers

President Arif Alvi on Friday administered the oath of office to three freshly appointed federal ministers and one minister of state in a ceremony at Aiwan-e-Sadr, in Islamabad.

The three ministers who took oath include Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid’s Chaudhry Salik Hussain, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s Javaid Latif and Balochistan National Party-Mengal’s (BNP) Agha Hassan Baloch. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was also part of the oath-taking ceremony.

President Alvi also administered oath to BNP-Mengal’s Mohammad Hashim Notezai as a minister of state. Earlier, the president had excused himself from administering the oath to PM Shehbaz Sharif and members of his cabinet. Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjarani performed the constitutional duty in Alvi’s stead. According to a local media report, a total of 31 federal ministers and three ministers of state took the oath of office.

The PML-N has 13 federal ministers, two ministers of state and one cabinet adviser, while the PPP has nine federal ministers, two ministers of state and one cabinet adviser.

Four federal ministers of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl, two federal ministers of MQM, one each of Balochistan Awami Party (BAP), Jamhoori Watan Party and PML-Q have been given portfolios in the cabinet. Rana Sanaullah has been given the portfolio of Interior Ministry, Marriyum Aurangzeb of Information, Miftah Ismail of Finance, Ahsan Iqbal of Planning and Azam Nazir Tarar of Law Ministry.
