President Dr. Arif Alvi awarded Nishan-e-Imtiaz to Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir and Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) Sahir Shamshad Mirza on Thursday.
The awards were presented to the newly appointed COAS and CJCSC at a special investiture ceremony held at the Aiwan-e-Sadar, Islamabad.
The ceremony was attended by several prominent figures, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani, Speaker of the National Assembly Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, and federal ministries.
Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa retired last month and Gen Munir assumed charge as the new COAS. Gen Sahir Shamshad Mirza replaced Gen (retd) Nadeem Raza’s post.
The generals assumed control of their new responsibilities after Prime Minister Shehbaz elevated them to the rank of general and appointed them to new positions.
