President constitutes NEC under PM Shehbaz

President Dr. Arif Alvi has constituted the National Economic Council (NEC) that will be presided by the Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

The specifics state that the NEC has been recreated in supersession of the Cabinet Division’s notifications of June 7, 2022, and October 20, 2022, and in accordance with the President’s authority under Article 156 of the Constitution.

The following individuals have been nominated by the Prime Minister to serve on the newly constituted NEC:

Minister for Communications Asad Mahmood; Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal, Minister of Finance and Revenue Senator Ishaq Dar and Minister for Commerce Syed Naveed Qamar (Member).

Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi, the interim chief minister, and S M Tanvir, the minister for energy, industries, commerce, investment and skill development, will represent Punjab.

Senator Nisar Ahmed Khuhro and Syed Murad Ali Shah will both represent the Sindh.

The interim Chief Minister KP Muhammad Azam Khan and the advisor for finance, energy and power Himayatullah Khan will represent KP.

The Chief Minister Abdul Quddus Bizenjo and the senior minister for finance Noor Muhammad Dumar will represent Balochistan.
