President might request PM for confidence vote: Fawad

Fawad rejects MQM's request saying Hyderabad, Karachi LG polls will proceed as scheduled on January 15

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Senior Vice-President Fawad Chaudhry has said that “PM might be requested to conduct a vote on trust as it is President Arif Alvi’s “constitutional prerogative” to urge Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to hold a trust vote.

He said that Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Mahmood Khan has drafted a report for the dissolution of the provincial legislature per the directives of PTI Chairman Imran Khan.

The development took place a day after Pervez Elahi, the chief minister of Punjab, signed the summary for the dissolution of the provincial legislature.

Fawad said that the primary cause of the nation’s economic woes was “money laundering” in a conversation with the media on Friday.

When the finance minister is complicit in money laundering how can the country have economic growth, he asked.

In response to a question, the PTI leader advised the Punjab governor to dissolve the assembly without delay in order to start the process of creating an interim set-up rather than waiting “48 hours.”

He wished the interim chief minister will be someone who could conduct fair elections in the province.

The PTI leader stated that the court rejected the new “broiler MQM’s” request and that the LG elections in Hyderabad and Karachi will proceed as scheduled on January 15 (Sunday).

He claimed that all of the PDM’s constituent parties were attempting to dodge the elections because they were terrified of having to face the electorate.

Fawad asked the Supreme Court to make sure the elections proceed according to plan.

He once more extended a conversation invitation to the federal government and requested that the Center collaborate with it to develop a framework for the nation’s general elections.

He added that Nawaz Sharif should go back home and deal with the cases brought against him.

Fawad urged against any impediments and added that the inquiries into the attempt on PTI leader Imran Khan’s life should be concluded independently.
