The Punjab government has granted a special remission for 30 days to all prisoners serving jail terms across the province on the eve of Eidul Azha.
According to a notification issued by the Home Department, prisoners convicted of rape, anti-state activities and terrorism will not be entitled to remission.
It is to be recalled that several prisons in the province are overcrowded as a large number of prisoners convicted of minor crimes can’t afford legal procedure for acquittal.
