Authorities in Karachi have reported the apprehension of a suspect accused of harassing women in the Ittehad Town locality of the city, which is predominantly inhabited by the middle-class strata of society.
The arrested individual identified as Faizan, works as a private security guard. He resides in Saddam Chowk within the Ittehad Town area.
This marks the fourth incident of its kind within the past two months in Karachi, prompting experts to advocate for the safety of women and increased awareness and education among the populace.
Law enforcement officials claimed that the suspect specifically targeted school teachers. The arrest was made with the assistance of CCTV footage, which depicted the suspect, riding a motorcycle, harassing women pedestrians on a street.
In addition to the arrest, the police reported the recovery of a revolver from the suspect’s possession. It’s noteworthy that the police initiated action after a video of the incident gained significant attention on social media.
On August 1, another incident involving a motorcyclist harassing a young woman occurred in Karachi’s Federal B Area. CCTV footage captured the perpetrator’s actions as he harassed the woman while she was walking through a street in Block 17 of FB Area, falling under the jurisdiction of the Samanabad police station.
