Protests in different cities upon PTI’s call

Protests have started in different cities of the country on the call of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) against the murderous attack on party chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan.

Karachi
PTI started a regular protest at ‘Numaish Chowrangi’ where protesters including women had been raising anti-government slogans and in favor of Imran Khan. The protest rally organized by PTI leaders left for the Tibet Centre which was also attended by women. Last night, Ghaffar had given a call for protest at 5 pm.

Due to the PTI protest at ‘Numaish Chowrangi’ traffic jams had started as the track from the ‘Numaish’ to MA Jinnah was closed for traffic while the police personnel present on the scene also had sticks in their hands. The track was closed for traffic. PTI Karachi President Bilal Ghaffar also reached the place of the demonstration.

Lahore
PTI’s protest has been going on at Shanghai Bridge and Chungi Amar Sidhu in Lahore which was led by Senator Ejaz Chaudhry. PTI workers also raised slogans against Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi and demanded that an FIR be lodged against him. PTI workers had also blocked the main Lahore-Kasur Road.

Rawalpindi
Protestors gathered in Rawalpindi at Faizabad. Police fired tear gas at protesters after PTI workers started protests by blocking roads. The protesters included women and children who were chanting anti-government slogans. After police fired tear gas, the protesters dispersed. Islamabad Expressway was also blocked by protestors.

Gujrat
In Gujarat, PTI workers had blocked traffic at Shaheen Chowk leading to long queues of traffic on the GT road bypass. The activists raised slogans against the federal government and in favour of Imran Khan.

Rahim Yar Khan
In Rahim Yar Khan, the protest of PTI workers has been going on for more than 20 hours due to which the National Highway has been closed and long queues of vehicles were formed. Citizens appeared worried about the traffic jam while the delivery of goods has been suspended.

Gujar Khan
The PTI workers in Gujar Khan had dispersed after holding a brief protest on GT Road.

Muzaffargarh
PTI workers started protests at Chenab Bridge and blocked the roads. The commuters faced severe difficulties.

Earlier, PTI leader Musarrat Cheema had said, “We are a peaceful party, but we will protest until the three characters involved in the attack on the chairman resign.”

Asad Umar had said that local PTI officials will announce the place of protests in their cities.
