PSL 8 final to be played on Saturday

Due to “poor weather prediction,” the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2023 championship game at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore will be played on Saturday, March 18, rather than Sunday, March 19. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced on Thursday.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department predicts rain, wind, dust and thunderstorms in Lahore from March 16 to 20, along with a few isolated heavy falls and hailstorms.

“The HBL PSL 8 is our signature competition. The PCB press release cited PCB Chairman Najam Sethi as stating, “All the teams aim and prepare full year to not only appear in the final but to hoist the Trophy. The ardent cricket fans also wait impatiently to watch their favorite team being crowned as the champion.”

“As a result, and based on the knowledge regarding the terrible weather prediction that is currently available, it is a logical and proactive approach that we use the off-day, play the final on Saturday, and use Sunday and Monday as reserve days. As opposed to the customary one day, this will provide us two backup days in case the match cannot be finished or played on Saturday.

“We have spoken with the play-off teams and they have not only agreed with our choice but also backed and supported it. Cricket fans won’t experience any disruption because tickets purchased for Sunday’s game will still be valid for Saturday’s rescheduled final,” it stated further.
