PTI challenges FIA’s investigation in ‘prohibited funding case’ in IHC

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf filed a complaint with the Islamabad High Court (IHC) opposing the Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) investigation into the case regarding prohibited funds.

On Saturday, PTI requested in the appeal that the FIA should not be allowed to make any arrests or carry out any searches related to the matter.

The petition included the home secretary, the director general of the FIA, and the investigating officer as parties.

According to the PTI, after the “regime change,” the party gathered money to support an anti-government movement.

The PTI said that all donations provided from overseas were received in accordance with the law.

PTI has asked the court to prevent the FIA from looking into the allegation of illegal fundraising, alleging that the agency had been “harassing” party leaders on a political basis.

The appeal stated that the FIA invaded PTI Senator Saifullah Niazi’s house and harassed him, saying that “the FIA probe and raids are unlawful and should be terminated immediately.”

A day earlier, it was claimed that Niazi had been taken into custody and placed in a cell by the FIA.

FIA began its investigation into the party funds after the Election Commission of Pakistan confirmed that PTI had received illegal funds in August of this year.
