PTI changes venue of Sialkot rally after protest by Christian community

PTI leader Shafqat Mahmood said that it is our right to hold a rally and the rally will be held in Sialkot in any case

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has shifted its venue for its public gathering in Sialkot after the Christian community protested against them.

PTI Punjab President Shafqat Mehmood along with Senator Ijaz Chaudhry in a press conference announced to change the venue of the public rally. PTI leader Shafqat Mahmood said that it is our right to hold a rally and the rally will be held in Sialkot in any case.
PTI had announced a rally at CTI Ground in Sialkot today but the district administration had not allowed them to hold the rally due to protests by the Christian community.

Despite not getting permission from the district administration, the PTI was preparing for the rally at CTI Ground on which the police cracked down and arrested several people. This included PTI leaders Usman Dar and Ali Asjad Malhi.

Shafqat Mehmood called on the police to release all workers and leaders and let them exercise their constitutional right to hold a public gathering. He also lamented on the government and said they are just going here and there but there is no visible result of such efforts.

He also accused Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Khwaja Asif and said all of this crackdown on our workers has been done on Khwaja Asif’s instructions. It is important to mention here that all the senior leadership of PML-N is in London at the moment to meet their supremo Nawaz Sharif.

Meanwhile, PTI chairman Imran Khan tweeted that a rally would be held in any case. He chastised the arrests saying that the “convict mafia boss in London” had always used fascist tactics against opponents. He called on the public to come out and protest against the government.
