PTI dissident members mull creating new party

Former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) leaders who left the party have suggested creating a new political group to run in the forthcoming elections called Pakistan Tehreek Insaf Nazriyati (PTI-N) or Haqeeqi Tehreek-e-Insaaf.

Many leaders and members of the dissident PTI groups, including Raja Riaz and Awn Chaudhry, attended an Iftar dinner when members of the Jahangir Khan Tareen (JKT) Group proposed.

The Tareen group is considering the suggestion, but it has not yet settled on a strategy. In addition, the group intends to hold talks and consider partnerships with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), and Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid in the future (PML-Q).

The JKT group is planning to approach more former PTI members and leaders to support their cause as they become more politically engaged.

Meeting attendees expressed their displeasure with the former prime minister Imran Khan’s policies and their willingness to break political ties with him.

The majority of the Tareen group advised creating an independent group or party called Haqeeqi Tehreek-e-Insaf rather than running in the upcoming elections on PML-N tickets, according to local media reports.

According to media reports, the majority of the group has expressed support for fighting the elections on an independent basis. They said that the majority of members mentioned the July 2022 by-elections as an example, where contesting on the PML-N ticket proved detrimental and the majority of the members lost the elections.
