Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) which had accused the US of overthrowing its government has engaged a new lobbying agency to advance the party’s reputation in an effort to improve ties with US policymakers.
According to documents that were made public yesterday, PTI USA agreed to work with Praia Consultants LLC, a lobbying firm with offices in Washington, to further its objectives of “good relations with the United States and the Pakistani diaspora in the US.”
According to the paperwork submitted to the US Justice Department under the Foreign Agents Registration Act, the contract was signed on February 21 and was for a period of six months.
The lobbying firm’s main customer, PTI USA, is situated in New York and will get a monthly payment of $8,333.00 from them.
“Throughout the length of this agreement, the firm shall render professional assistance regarding the client’s interactions with American institutions and government.
Additionally, according to the deal, the business must arrange meetings with a number of significant US decision-makers and will give advice on the meetings’ agendas.
If neither party objects and gives written consent before June 30, 2023, the agreement will also be extended for an additional six months, until January 31, 2024.
In order to provide public relations services, the PTI hired the lobbying and PR firm Fenton/Arlook last year. These services included, but were not limited to, informing and briefing journalists, placing articles and broadcasts, setting up interviews with PTI representatives or supporters, offering guidance on social media initiatives, and other similar public relations services.
Fenton/Arlook was hired at the cost of $25,000 per month.
