PTI files plea for FIR against Maryam Nawaz, Rana Sanaullah

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) applied on Tuesday to record a First Information Report (FIR) against the senior vice president of the PML-N Maryam Nawaz and the Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah.

A request to file an FIR against Maryam Nawaz, Rana Sanaullah, Punjab Inspector General (IG) Usman Anwar, Lahore Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Siddique Kamyana and others in the Race Course police station has been made to the session’s court.

Local media reports have claimed that after the police station declined to record the FIR, the petitioner submitted a court application under Sections 22A and 22B.

According to the application, Maryam and Sanaullah gave the Punjab IG the go-ahead to conduct the police operation at PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s Zaman Park residence. The sanctity of the boundary had been compromised, it declared.

The appeal further claimed that the police had been asked to file a report about the incident but had declined. It asked the court to issue a warrant for the arrest of PML-N leaders and police officers.

To conduct a “surprise” search inside the PTI leader’s Lahore home on Saturday, the Punjab police came in and broke down all doors and barriers. This happened shortly after Imran left for Islamabad to appear in court.

The front gate of the Zaman Park home was seen being broken through by crane while supporters resisted in a nearby protest camp.
