Circular debt of electricity increased to Rs2,500 billion, PSDP of federal government is Rs700 billion

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that the mistakes of the previous government caused economic problems for the country.

He said that the circular debt in terms of electricity has increased to Rs2,500 billion while the PSDP of the federal government was Rs700 billion. He said that this year $27 billion worth of fuel had to be purchased which was a big challenge for a country like Pakistan while the gas supply has also been disrupted as a result of the Russia-Ukraine war.

Shahbaz Sharif said that due to the disruption of gas going to Europe, developed countries were buying gas at exorbitant rates due to which more difficulties are increasing for a country like Pakistan. He said that for 15 years no government carried out reforms due to which circular debt increased and expensive electricity was made.

He said that the historical damage was done to Pakistan economically and when gas was getting cheaper the then government showed negligence.

Addressing a conference on solar energy in Islamabad Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that oil prices have increased due to the Russia-Ukraine war.

The premier said that oil and gas prices had crashed in the Corona epidemic and when gas was getting cheaper the then government showed negligence.

Prime Minister also said that the mistakes of the previous government had caused economic problems to the country, historical damage was done to Pakistan economically and revenge was taken in the name of accountability in the previous era.
